Bajaur, September 11, 2024-A polio vaccination team in Tehsil Silarzai Banda, Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was attacked by gunmen who opened fire, resulting in the tragic deaths of a polio worker and a police officer assigned to their protection.
Police swiftly cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers. The bodies of the victims were transported to Khar Hospital, and the investigation is ongoing.
This attack marks yet another violent attempt to disrupt polio eradication efforts in the region, despite heightened security measures.
