Los Angeles, December 31, 2024: Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a divorce settlement, concluding an eight-year legal dispute, according to Jolie’s attorney.
Jolie and Pitt, who married in 2014 and share six children, were once the epitome of celebrity romance, earning the moniker “Brangelina.” However, their relationship unraveled when Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
During subsequent legal proceedings, Jolie accused Pitt of being abusive toward her and two of their children during a private jet flight that year. Pitt denied the allegations and was not charged following a police investigation. His legal team has not commented publicly on the divorce settlement.
Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, shared a statement with People magazine, emphasizing that Jolie’s priority has been “finding peace and healing for their family.” He added, “This is just one part of a long, ongoing process that began eight years ago. Angelina is exhausted but relieved that this chapter is finally over.” The settlement terms remain confidential.
At the time of their separation in 2016, the couple released a joint statement committing to a private resolution. Despite this, their divorce has been marked by public and contentious legal battles. Jolie has accused Pitt of “waging a vindictive war,” while Pitt has claimed that Jolie sought to undermine his business interests deliberately.
One significant point of contention has been the ownership of Chateau Miraval, a French vineyard the pair purchased together in 2008 for €25 million (£21.3 million). The property, which hosted their wedding, has been at the center of a bitter legal dispute.
In 2022, Pitt accused Jolie of selling her stake in the vineyard to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, owner of Stolichnaya vodka, without his consent, alleging the move was intended to harm his wine business.
While the divorce settlement brings an end to one chapter of their legal saga, it remains unclear if the resolution will address ongoing disputes, including the battle over Chateau Miraval.
The conclusion of their divorce marks a pivotal moment in what has been one of Hollywood’s most high-profile and acrimonious splits.
