Lahore, March 23, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has urged the government to convene a joint session of Parliament in response to the escalating threat of terrorism in the country.
Raja criticized the government for hastily summoning a National Security Committee (NSC) meeting without allowing sufficient time for PTI leadership to deliberate on the matter. He defended his party’s decision to boycott the meeting, stating, “Our decision to boycott the NSC meeting was absolutely right.”
He further revealed that efforts were underway to form a grand opposition alliance against the current government, emphasizing that the PTI founder, despite being in jail, remains well-informed about the country’s political and security situation.
Raja also credited Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his role in amending the 26th Amendment by removing controversial clauses. However, he dismissed the notion that the political dynamics of Dera Ismail Khan would have a decisive impact on national politics.
Calling for broader political engagement, Raja insisted that an All Parties Conference (APC) should be convened, bringing together all political forces to collectively address the country’s pressing security concerns.
