Riyadh, March 29, 2025: Saudi Arabia has officially announced that Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025, after the Shawwal crescent was sighted earlier this evening.
Eid marks the conclusion of Ramadan, occurring on the 1st of Shawwal. Since Islamic months vary between 29 and 30 days, this year’s Ramadan will end after 29 days due to the confirmed moon sighting.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has declared a four-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors, starting from Sunday, March 30, to Wednesday, April 2. With the weekend included, many employees will enjoy a six-day break, with work resuming on Thursday, April 3.
In Pakistan, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will convene on Sunday, March 30, to determine the start of Eid ul Fitr. The government has already announced a three-day holiday from March 31 to April 2 for the occasion.
According to the Meteorological Office, Eid is expected to fall on March 31, as the Shawwal moon is likely to be visible in Pakistan on Sunday, March 30.
