Sukkur, November 30, 2024 – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has emphasized the urgent need for political stability in Pakistan, advocating for either dialogue or decisive measures to achieve it. Speaking at the PPP’s 57th founding anniversary rally in Sukkur, he highlighted that national progress hinges on peace, economic stability, and consensus among political actors.
“Political stability is vital for Pakistan’s future. It can only be achieved through dialogue or, if necessary, firm action,” Bilawal stated. He urged all political parties to prioritize democracy and constitutional supremacy, warning against political chaos and militancy that disrupt governance.
Criticizing the PTI for creating unrest, he said the events of May 9 and the recent turmoil in Islamabad were not examples of legitimate politics. “Politicians must resolve issues through dialogue and confine institutions to their constitutional roles,” he added, expressing a desire for cooperation between the government and opposition to restore stability.
Bilawal criticized opposition factions for seeking engagement with the establishment instead of pursuing political negotiations. He stressed that the government is open to consensus-based decisions but will respond firmly to undemocratic actions.
Addressing the crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bilawal called on the provincial government to restore law and order in Kurram with federal assistance. He condemned the provincial leadership’s confrontational stance, urging them to prioritize public welfare over political maneuvering. “The provincial government must take responsibility for restoring peace or step aside,” he warned.
Reflecting on the PPP’s legacy, Bilawal celebrated its enduring role in Pakistan’s political landscape. He honored party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for establishing democracy and implementing economic reforms to benefit the working class. He also paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto’s courageous leadership during challenging times, emphasizing her sacrifices for democracy.
Highlighting the PPP’s accomplishments, Bilawal cited the passage of the 18th Amendment, provincial autonomy, and initiatives like the Benazir Income Support Programme. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to serving the people and addressing the nation’s pressing issues.
“Pakistan needs unity and a clear path forward. The PPP will continue to lead with resilience and a commitment to democracy and justice,” Bilawal concluded.
