Lahore, December 30, 2024: Dense fog has blanketed Punjab, drastically reduced visibility and forcing the closure of motorways M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway to all traffic.
The temperature in Punjab dropped to 8°C on Monday morning, while the upper regions are experiencing severe cold, with temperatures plunging below freezing, creating challenging conditions for residents and tourists alike.
According to Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the closures include M2: Lahore-Islamabad, M3: Lahore-Abdul Hakeem, M4: Pindi Bhattian-Multan, M5: Multan-Rohri and Lahore-Sialkot Motorway.
These measures were taken to ensure public safety amid dense fog. The spokesperson advised against unnecessary travel and emphasized that travel during daylight hours (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) is safer in foggy conditions. Drivers are urged to maintain a safe speed and distance. For assistance, the Motorway Police helpline is available at 130.
