Fateh Jang, December 30, 2024: A series of tragic traffic accidents across Pakistan has claimed the lives of at least 16 people and left dozens injured.
In a major incident on the M-14 motorway near Fateh Jang, a bus traveling from Bahawalpur to Islamabad crashed, resulting in 10 fatalities and 7 injuries. According to the Motorway Police, initial investigations point to driver negligence as the cause of the accident. Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, transferring the injured and deceased to the THQ Hospital in Fateh Jang. The bus sustained severe damage in the crash.
In Sindh’s Naushahro Feroze district, a collision between a van and a trailer near Moro led to 6 deaths and 15 injuries. Rescue teams promptly arrived and transported the victims to a nearby hospital, where 10 of the injured, now in critical condition, were referred to Nawabshah for advanced care. The victims were reportedly returning from a wedding ceremony.
Another accident occurred in Jhang district near Gadh Mor, where a tractor-trolley collided with a high-roof van, injuring 12 individuals. Reports suggest that a brake failure in the van caused the collision. The injured, all members of the same family, were traveling from Faisalabad to Fatehpur at the time.
These accidents highlight the ongoing issues of road safety and vehicle maintenance in the country, emphasizing the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
