Islamabad, January 3, 2025: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) announced on Friday that teams are “working diligently” to resolve internet service disruption caused by a fault in an international submarine cable.
“Due to an international submarine cable outage, you may experience slow browsing issues. Teams are working diligently to resolve the matter as soon as possible,” PTCL stated, apologizing for the inconvenience caused.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that the fault was reported in the Africa-Asia-Europe (AAE-1) submarine cable near Qatar, potentially affecting internet services across the country. The AAE-1 cable, operational since 2017, links 19 countries, including Pakistan, with critical global internet traffic.
“This may impact internet and broadband user experience across Pakistan,” PTA noted in its statement. It assured that concerned teams are actively working on repairs, and the situation is being closely monitored.
