Islamabad, September 5, 2024- The Pakistan Navy has announced the induction of two new warships, PNS Haneen and PNS Babar, in a special ceremony scheduled for Defense Day. Both vessels will be formally integrated into the Navy simultaneously.
PNS Babar, the first Multinational/Babar-class ship built in Turkey, will officially join the Pakistan Navy. The third Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) 2600, PNS Haneen, constructed in Romania, will also be included in the fleet.
President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest at the induction ceremony. The construction of PNS Babar began on June 4, 2020, with its launch on August 15, 2021, and commissioning on September 23, 2023. The Pakistan Navy will welcome four Babar-class ships, featuring vertical launching systems, with two being built in Istanbul and two in Karachi.
The induction of these new ships will enhance the diversity and effectiveness of the Pakistan Navy’s fleet.
