Karachi, April 12, 2025: In a pulsating high-scoring clash at the National Bank Stadium, James Vince produced a masterclass with the bat, powering Karachi Kings to a thrilling four-wicket win over Multan Sultans in Match 3 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
Chasing a mammoth 235-run target, Karachi Kings crossed the finish line with just four balls to spare—thanks to Vince’s blazing century and a crucial supporting knock by Khushdil Shah.
The Kings began their chase with intent as Tim Seifert launched a quick assault, smashing 32 off just 16 deliveries. However, Multan clawed back into the game with key wickets in the powerplay, removing David Warner (12), Seifert, and then Shan Masood (0) and Arafat Minhas (10) in quick succession. At 79 for 4 in under seven overs, the Kings were under pressure.
That’s when Vince and Khushdil took charge. The duo stitched together a brilliant partnership, mixing aggression with composure. Vince, in particular, was unstoppable—reaching his century with a flurry of boundaries. Khushdil anchored the other end with a measured half-century, ensuring the Kings remained on track. Their partnership turned the tide, and Karachi sealed victory in the 20th over, with six wickets down.
Earlier, Multan Sultans put up an imposing 234 for 3 after being sent in to bat. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan led from the front with a spectacular unbeaten 105 off 63 balls, decorated with nine fours and five towering sixes.
Multan’s innings got off to a flying start, with Rizwan and Shai Hope adding 55 runs in the first five overs. Hope contributed just 8 before falling to Hasan Ali, but the momentum never dipped.
Usman Khan chipped in with 19 before Rizwan found a more effective partner in Kamran Ghulam, who smashed 36 off 19 in a 63-run stand. Ghulam’s quickfire cameo gave way to Michael Bracewell, whose 17-ball 44 powered the visitors past the 230 mark. His finishing burst included five fours and three sixes, capping off a dominant display.
Despite the daunting total, Multan’s bowlers couldn’t contain the late onslaught by Vince and company. Hasan Ali, Abbas Afridi, and Khushdil Shah each took a wicket for Karachi, but it was the batters who stole the spotlight in this unforgettable contest.
The win gives Karachi Kings an early boost in the tournament and sends a strong message to their rivals: they’re here to chase down any target.
