Lahore, January 11, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the landmark ‘Punjab Dhi Rani Program’ at a mass wedding ceremony held in Lahore on Saturday, celebrating the union of 51 couples, including five Christian pairs, in a gesture of inclusivity and care.
The Chief Minister expressed her heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds, calling the event an emotional moment for both parents and children. Addressing the couples, she said, “As much as your parents are happy today, I, as your mother, feel equally joyful for you.” She prayed for their happiness, saying, “May Allah Almighty bless my daughters and sons with a joyful and peaceful life.”
As part of the program, CM Maryam Nawaz personally congratulated each couple, offering her blessings and distributing gifts, including mattresses, dinner sets, cooking utensils, and other essential household items. To further support the couples, she unveiled the ‘Dhi Rani Program Greeting Card’, which includes a financial gift of Rs. 100,000 for each bride.
She handed the greeting cards to the brides, adding a personal and compassionate touch to the ceremony. The event also featured prayers led by Maulana Dr. Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi and Bishop Lahore Nadeem Kamran for the happiness and prosperity of the newlyweds.
The Social Welfare Department organized a special lunch for the participants, and the Chief Minister took a group photograph with the couples while inspecting the distributed gifts. Maryam Nawaz extended her heartfelt congratulations to the brides, grooms, and their families, saying, “I have come here today to share in your joy and offer my prayers for your prosperous future. May Allah bless your marriages and keep you together in both happiness and sorrow.”
Highlighting the significance of the Dhi Rani Program, the Chief Minister described it as a pivotal initiative aimed at empowering young women and promoting their well-being through socially inclusive measures. She reaffirmed her commitment to uplifting women across Punjab and providing support to families in need.
