Islamabad, January 24, 2025: A consensus was initially reached between the government and the opposition to hold a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), scheduled for Friday at 2:30 PM in Committee Room Two of Parliament.
In preparation for the session, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) submitted five nominees: Aamir Dogar, Junaid Akbar, Sheikh Waqas, Umar Ayub, and Khawaja Shiraz. Among these, Junaid Akbar was chosen as PTI’s candidate for the PAC chairmanship.
However, reliable sources reveal to the SUB NEWS that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) raised concerns over PTI’s selection. The PPP reportedly signaled its intention to contest the PAC chairmanship election.
Due to these objections, the scheduled PAC election meeting was postponed.
