Karachi, February 20, 2025: Police claimed on Thursday that suspect Armaghan has confessed to the murder of Mustafa Amir during interrogation, with his statement recorded on video.
According to authorities, Armaghan admitted to driving Mustafa’s car from Khayaban-e-Mohafiz to Dareji, where he set the vehicle on fire while Mustafa was still alive and semi-conscious. He also confessed to assaulting Mustafa and firing three warning shots that did not hit him.
The suspect further revealed that on February 8, he noticed police entering his bungalow late. He claimed that had he seen them earlier, a prolonged exchange of fire could have occurred.
Investigators alleged that Armaghan was involved in drug dealing before starting a call center business. Police have also identified a girl whose DNA was found at his residence and launched a search for her. Reports suggest she was injured by Armaghan on New Year’s Eve.
The exact cause of Mustafa’s death will be determined after post-mortem and DNA analysis. Meanwhile, the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) has revisited Armaghan’s residence to gather forensic evidence, though no weapons or blunt objects have been recovered yet.
Authorities confirmed that Armaghan remains in custody, with the investigation ongoing. A final report is yet to be compiled.
In compliance with court orders, a medical board has been formed to oversee the exhumation of Mustafa Amir’s body, scheduled for February 21 in the presence of a judicial magistrate. Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed will chair the board, alongside Dr. Shri Chand and Medico-Legal Officer Dr. Kamran Khan.
