Quetta, March 11, 2025: At least 80 hostages, including women and children, have been freed following the armed attack on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan, a senior railway official confirmed to media.

According to officials, the freed passengers were taken off the train and have now reached near Panir Railway Station. The official added that the released hostages are all residents of Balochistan.

The attack occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the assault on Jaffar Express, which was carrying over 400 passengers.

Military sources reported that militants stopped the train near Dhadar, forcing it to halt inside a tunnel before taking passengers hostage.

Authorities have confirmed that a clearance operation is underway, but no further details have been provided on the status of the remaining hostages.

The train’s driver was injured during the attack, which took place at approximately 1:30 PM on Tuesday. Security forces are actively engaged in efforts to resolve the crisis.
