Islamabad, March 11, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where officials briefed the cabinet on the monitoring of essential commodity prices during the holy month of Ramazan.

This marked the first formal meeting following the recent expansion of the cabinet. The prime minister welcomed the new members and extended his best wishes for their tenure, according to the PM Office Media Wing.

Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal presented a detailed briefing on the mechanisms in place to monitor essential item prices. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that the Islamabad Price Control Committee had been effective and efficient in ensuring price stability.

The cabinet approved the affiliation of the Directorate of Religious Education with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the cabinet approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team and China’s National Computer Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity, including research, consultation, cyber-attack prevention, policy development, intelligence sharing, and capacity building.

The cabinet also approved an agreement with the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to establish an ITU Accelerator Center in Pakistan. Under this agreement, the National Incubation Center in Islamabad will be upgraded to enhance its role in IT and digital innovation.

Several key appointments were approved including Syed Jarrar Haider Kazmi as CEO of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation while Commodore (OPS) Rizwan Ali Munawar received a one-year extension as Commandant of the Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi. Engineer Syed Musarat Hussain was appointed as CEO of Pakistan Real Estate Investment & Management Company (Private) Limited.

The cabinet endorsed the decisions made by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on February 20 and the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases on March 4.

The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to economic stability, public welfare, and enhanced governance.
