Islamabad, March 17, 2025: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has convened a crucial meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday, originally scheduled for 1:30 PM but now rescheduled to 11:00 AM due to Ramadan, according to a notification issued by the National Assembly Secretariat.

The in-camera session will be attended by cabinet members, parliamentary leaders, and their nominated representatives from all political parties. The military leadership will provide a comprehensive briefing on the security situation, particularly in light of the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan.

The meeting comes after terrorists blew up a railway track and took passengers hostage, engaging in a prolonged battle with security forces. Reports indicate that the attackers used suicide bombers as human shields to deter rescue efforts. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a proscribed terrorist organization, claimed responsibility, stating that its operatives had taken control of the train.

However, in a successful counter-operation, Pakistani security forces eliminated all 33 terrorists and safely rescued the hostages.

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security will deliberate on the implications of the attack, ongoing counterterrorism strategies, and necessary security measures to prevent future incidents. The meeting will be held in the National Assembly Hall, underscoring the government’s commitment to addressing national security concerns at the highest level.
