Islamabad, March 17, 2025: Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Al-Tahiri on Monday to discuss bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on railway development.

According to an official statement, Ambassador Al-Tahiri congratulated Hanif Abbasi on assuming his new role and extended his best wishes for his tenure. He also expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan, where assailants attempted to hijack the train and took passengers hostage. The envoy strongly condemned the attack and conveyed his sympathies to the victims and their families.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding and strong ties between Pakistan and the UAE. Ambassador Al-Tahiri reiterated his country’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations, emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.

Minister Abbasi outlined Pakistan Railways’ ongoing modernization efforts, highlighting the government’s strategic partnerships with both domestic and international suppliers to enhance railway services. He also encouraged UAE investment in Pakistan’s railway infrastructure, underscoring the country’s commitment to a business-friendly environment.

The two sides explored opportunities to expand economic and trade relations, particularly in railway projects and broader investment sectors. They agreed to continue discussions and enhance collaboration in the railway sector and other economic domains.
