Alka Yagnik reacts to Osama Bin Laden being her fan: "there was an artist inside him"

New Delhi, March 17, 2025: Legendary Bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik recently reacted to reports that Osama Bin Laden was a fan of her music.

During an interview with Anu Ranjan, she was asked about the discovery of Bollywood chartbusters sung by her, Udit Narayan, and Kumar Sanu on Bin Laden’s seized computers during the 2011 Abbottabad raid.

Alka Yagnik responded lightheartedly, saying:
“Is it my fault? Osama Bin Laden, jo bhi hai, jaisa bhi hai, uske andar ek chota sa kalakaar hoga kahin… Pasand hai toh phir, accha hai na?”
(“Whatever and whoever Osama Bin Laden was, there must have been a little artist inside him. If he liked my songs, then that’s good, isn’t it?”)

Among the tracks discovered in Bin Laden’s personal music collection were “Dil Tera Aashiq” – from Salman Khan & Madhuri Dixit’s Dil Tera Aashiq, “Ajnabee Mujhko Itna Bata” – from Ajay Devgn & Kajol’s Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha, “Tu Chand Hai Poonam Ka” – from Jaane Tamanna.

During the interview, Alka also opened up about losing songs due to industry politics.

“Politics exists in every profession. Many of my songs were taken away from me. One of my contemporaries played very dirty politics—I’d rehearse a song only to later find out that a senior singer had eventually recorded it,” she revealed.

However, she maintained a positive attitude:
“I didn’t let it bother me. I was always a homebody—happy to return home after work. I sang from my heart and was my own biggest critic. Even today, if I hear one of my songs on the radio and notice a flaw, I ask the driver to change the station.”

Last year, Alka Yagnik shocked fans when she revealed that she had been diagnosed with a rare hearing disorder. Despite health challenges, she remains one of the most celebrated playback singers in Bollywood, having won seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer.
