Dera Ghazi Khan, March 24, 2025: Security forces successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a police check post in the Wahuwa Jhangi border area late Sunday night.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, a group of 20 to 25 terrorists launched a coordinated assault on the check post from four directions, using rocket launchers and sophisticated firearms. However, police personnel, already on high alert, retaliated effectively, forcing the attackers to retreat without causing any casualties or damage.

The counter-operation was led by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Manj, with District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali and other senior officials overseeing the response.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the bravery and professionalism of the Punjab Police, lauding them for standing “like an iron wall” against the assailants. He specifically praised the young officers for their courage in repelling what he described as a “Khawarij attack.”

Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar also applauded the force, highlighting that additional personnel and advanced weaponry had been provided to further secure the Jhungi police check post.

The attack underscores ongoing security challenges in the region, but authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and thwarting terrorist threats.
