Islamabad, March 26, 2025: Senior journalist Waheed Murad was allegedly abducted from his residence in Islamabad in the early hours of Wednesday. According to his wife, masked men in black uniforms forcibly entered the house around 2 a.m. and took him away in a black dala (pickup truck).

Speaking to media, Murad’s wife recounted the terrifying ordeal. She said the intruders knocked on the door and accused her husband of being an Afghan national. When Murad denied the claim and slid his identity card under the door as proof, they forcibly broke in. The men, dressed in black uniforms, seized both Murad’s phone and her mother’s phone before whisking him away in a black vehicle.

Murad’s wife, who is currently abroad, stated that her mother was present at home during the alleged abduction. She had pleaded with the intruders to send female police officers, but they refused and forcibly removed Murad.

Family sources confirmed that the abduction took place on Chaman Road in Islamabad’s Sector G-8. Following the incident, Murad’s mother-in-law filed a petition for his recovery through Advocates Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha. The petition names the interior secretary, defence secretary, Islamabad inspector general of police, and the station house officer (SHO) of Karachi Company police station as respondents.

The petition states that individuals in black uniforms entered the house at 2 a.m., while two police vehicles were also seen accompanying them. It alleges that the men forcibly took Murad away and misbehaved with the family.

A complaint was lodged at the Karachi Company police station, but no formal FIR was registered. The petition calls for an immediate order for Murad’s recovery and legal action against those responsible for his unlawful abduction.
