Quetta, April 6, 2025: The Balochistan government has issued a stern warning to veteran politician and Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief, Akhtar Mengal, stating that he will be arrested if he proceeds with his planned march towards Quetta.

According to the provincial government’s spokesperson, Mengal was formally notified of his detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance at 6:00 AM today. Despite receiving the official notice, Mengal has reportedly refused to comply or surrender to the authorities.

Shahid Rind confirmed that the BNP-M leader declined to submit to a voluntary arrest following the government’s directive, raising tensions ahead of the anticipated march.

The situation in the province remains volatile as law enforcement agencies remain on high alert, monitoring the evolving political standoff.
