More than 20 clauses in the proposed constitutional amendments, details on Sub-News

Islamabad, September 15,2024-Sub News has obtained details of the proposed constitutional amendments. The proposed amendments include more than 20 clauses, with amendments to Articles 51, 63, 175, and 187 of the Constitution.

Sources say that the amendment also includes an increase in representation for the Balochistan Assembly. The proposal suggests increasing Balochistan Assembly seats from 65 to 81. Amendments to Article 63 of the Constitution are also included, such as changes related to the voting of dissenting members.

Appeals against decisions of the Constitutional Court will be heard in the Constitutional Court itself, and there is a possibility of amendments to Article 181 of the Constitution. The Constitutional Court will hear cases related to Articles 184, 185, and 186.

The proposal also includes the transfer of High Court judges to High Courts in other provinces. The appointment of the Chief Justice of Pakistan will be made from a panel of 5 senior judges of the Supreme Court.

Sources further stated that a Judicial Commission and a Parliamentary Committee will be convened for the appointment of Supreme Court and High Court judges. The government will appoint the Chief Justice from the 5 senior judges of the Supreme Court. The remaining 4 judges of the Constitutional Court will also be appointed by the government. The Judicial Commission and the Parliamentary Committee will be convened for the appointment of Supreme Court and High Court judges.
