Karachi, April 13, 2025: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced a countrywide shutter-down strike on April 22 to express solidarity with the people of Palestine, as Israeli aggression continues to draw condemnation across the globe.
Speaking at a Gaza Solidarity March in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem criticized Western powers for their alleged complicity in the violence.
“Countries like South Africa and Ireland are standing firmly against Zionist oppression,” he said. “But when those who watch the spectacle become the spectacle themselves, who will come to their aid? The mask has come off the West’s face. The imperialist mindset has been exposed, and now conscientious voices within the West are also rising in protest.”
He declared that all shops and businesses across Pakistan will remain closed on April 22 as a mark of protest.
“Everything will be shut on that day to show unwavering support for our Palestinian brothers and sisters,” he stated.
JI has also announced solidarity marches in Multan on April 18 and in Islamabad on April 20 as part of its nationwide campaign to highlight the plight of Palestinians.
The JI chief further claimed that Hamas and the Al-Qassam Brigades have resisted Israeli military technologies, and he denounced what he described as ongoing violations of the United Nations Charter and genocide committed against the Palestinian people over the years.
