Islamabad, September 15,2024-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founding leader and party election candidate, Akbar S. Babar, has announced to challenge the Supreme Court’s ruling made by 8 judges.

In his video statement, Akbar S. Babar questioned, “How can the Supreme Court impose an unelected person on millions of PTI workers?” He described the decision as unconstitutional, illegal, and undemocratic, stating that they will challenge it.

He added, “The intra-party election decision hasn’t been finalized yet, so how can the Supreme Court issue a ruling on it?”

“If PTI workers were not given the right to vote in accordance with the law in party elections, how can the Supreme Court demand that we recognize these individuals as the legitimate and legal leaders of the party?”

According to the law, if Barrister Gohar and others are elected through a transparent party election, we will accept them as well.

“In its own decision, the Supreme Court did not recognize Barrister Gohar as the party chairman or Umar Ayub as the secretary general, so how can workers like us accept them?”

He further stated that if the ruling by the Supreme Court’s eight judges is accepted, it would strip the right of appeal from those challenging the intra-party elections, which is unconstitutional and illegal.

“Why are the defenders of democracy not protecting the fundamental democratic right of party workers to elect their own leadership?”

Akbar S. Babar also said that institutions are clashing with each other for power, leading the country toward ruin.
