DG ISPR presents 'irrefutable evidence' of Indian state-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan

Rawalpindi, April 29, 2025: In a detailed and high-stakes press conference on Tuesday, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry presented what he described as “irrefutable evidence” of Indian-sponsored terrorism within Pakistan—days after New Delhi accused Islamabad of involvement in the deadly attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Addressing both local and international media, Lt Gen Chaudhry categorically rejected India’s accusations regarding the Pahalgam incident, calling them baseless and politically motivated. “It has been seven days since the Pahalgam attack, and India has yet to produce a single shred of credible evidence linking Pakistan,” he said. “Instead, it is India that has been consistently involved in state-sponsored cross-border terrorism aimed at destabilizing Pakistan.”

The DG ISPR disclosed a range of operational details allegedly exposing a wider Indian terror network operating inside Pakistan. He revealed that on April 25, a suspect identified as Abdul Majeed was apprehended near the Jhelum bus terminal. Security forces recovered 2.5 kilograms of explosive material, an Indian-origin drone, and Rs1 million in cash from his possession. Forensic analysis of Majeed’s phone revealed direct communication with Indian military personnel, including a Subedar named Sukhwinder, and a wider network involving Indian Army officers: Major Sandeep Verma, Subedar Sukhwinder, Havaldar Amit, and an unnamed sepoy.

Lt Gen Chaudhry said these handlers supplied IEDs and provided detailed video instructions for assembling bombs, with the aim of targeting both security forces and civilians to portray Pakistan as a terrorist hub internationally.

DG ISPR said that on 22nd November last year, Subedar Sukhwinder allegedly guided Majeed to collect an IED near Head Marala. A damaged Indian drone was also recovered during this operation. On 30th November, Majeed planted an IED on a military vehicle in Jalalpur Jattan, resulting in the martyrdom of four Pakistani soldiers. He was reportedly paid Rs656,000 upon completion. On March 18, 2025, Another IED was planted near Kotli on instructions from Major Sukhwinder. The device was safely defused after being spotted by schoolchildren. On April 22, 2025: Yet another IED was delivered near Nadalah. Majeed was directed to carry out a bomb attack at a local bus stand the following day.

Lt Gen Chaudhry dismissed Indian media reports claiming that five bombs were discovered in IIOJK as “blatant propaganda,” asserting that they were an attempt to distract from the real threat—India’s ongoing support of terrorism within Pakistan.

India has responded to the Pahalgam incident by unilaterally suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, revoking visas for Pakistani nationals, and closing the Wagah-Attari border. Pakistan has countered by expelling Indian diplomats, cancelling most visas for Indian citizens (except Sikh pilgrims), and sealing its side of the border.

Lt Gen Chaudhry concluded by reiterating Pakistan’s call for an impartial, international investigation into the Pahalgam attack and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty. “Pakistan has always advocated for peace in the region, but we will not allow foreign-sponsored terror to threaten our people or our national integrity,” he stated.
