Lahore, May 10, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the immediate postponement of several ongoing domestic cricket tournaments due to escalating security concerns across the country. The decision comes just a day after the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 was also suspended.

Among the impacted events are the President’s Trophy Grade-II, Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup, and the Inter-District U19 One-Day Tournament. The PCB assured that all competitions will resume from their current stages once the situation stabilizes, with a revised schedule to be released in due course.

This move follows a directive issued by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who advised a temporary halt to major sporting events amid rising regional hostilities, particularly tensions with neighboring India.

“The decision to postpone has been taken based on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, considering the escalating hostilities from India,” read a statement from the PCB. “The nation’s attention is rightly focused on the bravery and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces who are defending our country’s sovereignty.”

The PCB expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their efforts in smoothly conducting PSL Season 10 until now, including franchise owners, players, broadcasters, sponsors, and the organizing staff.

While acknowledging cricket’s role in national unity and entertainment, the PCB emphasized that safeguarding the nation and its people must come first.
“While cricket unites the country and brings happiness to millions, it is appropriate to pause when the nation faces such serious external threats,” the statement continued.

The board also highlighted concerns for player welfare, stating, “We value the mental well-being of our players and respect the concerns of their families, particularly our international players, whose safety is a top priority.”

The PCB urged fans to stand united and expressed hope for a swift return to normalcy and cricketing action.
