Islamabad, May 13, 2025: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid tribute to the martyrs of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, lauding the Pakistan armed forces for their decisive and united response to unprovoked Indian aggression.

In a strong statement, President Zardari said India’s blatant hostility had only further strengthened the unity and resolve of the Pakistani people. “The entire nation and our valiant armed forces stand ready to respond to any threat to our sovereignty and security,” he said.

He honored the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force personnel who laid down their lives in defense of the homeland, stating, “We are proud of our martyrs. Our brave forces shattered the enemy’s arrogance through Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and successfully defended the country’s integrity.”

Expressing grief over the loss of civilian lives, including women and children, during the Indian strikes, the president extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also issued a statement, saluting the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces. He specifically paid tribute to five officers and personnel of the Pakistan Air Force and six officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army who were martyred while defending the nation.

“Operation Bunyanum Marsoos not only delivered a resolute response to Indian aggression but also dismantled the illusion of India’s numerical superiority,” he said. “Our brave forces fulfilled their promise to protect the motherland with unwavering commitment.”

The prime minister mourned the martyrdom of 40 innocent civilians, including 15 children and seven women, and reaffirmed the nation’s solidarity with their families. “We have not forgotten our martyrs, nor will we ever abandon their families. They are the pride of the nation.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the martyrs’ families, noting that a comprehensive Martyrs’ Package had already been announced. He also prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for patience and healing for the bereaved.

Concluding his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remarked, “We are a peaceful nation, but we will not tolerate any attack on our sovereignty. Operation Bunyanum Marsoos stands as clear proof of our resolve and capability.”
