Lahore, June 2, 2025: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at the board’s headquarters, where it was decided that all international players will now be required to participate in domestic tournaments.

The decision, officials said, aims to bridge the gap between domestic and international standards and provide emerging cricketers with an opportunity to share the field with seasoned professionals.

“Playing alongside international cricketers will groom domestic players and enhance their performance,” Naqvi was quoted as saying. “Only a strong structure of domestic cricket can help us bring forward the best talent in the country.”

The meeting, which was attended by Director International Cricket Usman Wahla, Head Coach Mike Hesson, and T20 captain Agha Salman, also reviewed the preparations for the upcoming home series against South Africa and Sri Lanka, as well as away tours of the West Indies and Bangladesh.

Wahla presented a detailed briefing on the international calendar, logistical arrangements, and player readiness for the forthcoming commitments.

Naqvi, who has been at the helm of the PCB since February, also directed officials to initiate work on the new cycle of central contracts, emphasising the need for a performance-based and transparent system.

Sources said the central contracts will likely reflect the new domestic participation policy and could include clauses that tie player remuneration to their availability for key domestic competitions.

Naqvi reiterated the board’s commitment to reviving the credibility and competitiveness of domestic cricket. “We are taking all necessary steps to uplift the structure and align it with the demands of modern-day cricket,” he said.

The PCB is expected to issue a formal statement outlining the timeline for implementation of the new policies in the coming days.
