Istanbul, June 21, 2025: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, accompanied by Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers’ Summit in Istanbul.
According to the Foreign Office, FM Dar conveyed a special message of goodwill from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to President Erdogan, underscoring Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Türkiye.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their resolve to deepen and diversify the historic and fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye across multiple sectors, including diplomacy, defense, trade, and people-to-people ties.
The leaders also discussed regional developments, with a particular focus on the escalating Iran-Israel conflict. They stressed the urgent need for sustained diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent further destabilization of the region.
FM Dar and President Erdogan jointly called on the international community to act responsibly to restore peace and stability, especially in light of ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza. They emphasized the critical need for an immediate ceasefire and the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to the besieged Palestinian population.
FM Dar also extended warm congratulations to President Erdogan for the successful organization of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ meeting and praised him for receiving a special award from the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, recognizing his leadership in the Muslim world.
