Islamabad, June 23, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) on Monday to assess the rapidly evolving regional security landscape following Israel’s military strikes on Iran.
The NSC strongly condemned Israel’s acts of aggression, expressing deep regret that these hostilities unfolded during a period of constructive negotiations between Iran and the United States.
“The Committee viewed the attacks as reckless and destabilizing, warning that such actions threaten to trigger a wider regional conflict and undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts,” read an official statement issued after the meeting.
High-level civil and military leadership attended the session, which underscored Pakistan’s consistent stance in favor of peace and dialogue. The Committee reiterated its call for restraint, urging all parties to prioritize diplomacy over confrontation to avoid further escalation in the Middle East.
The NSC also reviewed Pakistan’s preparedness to address any fallout from the situation, particularly in terms of regional security, energy markets, and the safety of Pakistani nationals in the affected areas.
