London, June 26, 2025: Fast bowler Jofra Archer has been recalled to England’s Test squad for the upcoming second Test against India, scheduled to begin on July 2 at Edgbaston, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Thursday.

The 30-year-old speedster returns to the national red-ball setup for the first time since England’s 2021 tour of India, having spent a prolonged period on the sidelines due to a recurring elbow injury and a stress fracture in his back.

Archer recently made his comeback to first-class cricket after nearly four years, turning out for Sussex in the County Championship on Sunday. His selection is a significant boost to England’s pace attack and marks the only change to the squad that clinched a thrilling five-wicket win over India at Headingley earlier this week, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Archer has 42 wickets from 13 Test matches and is widely regarded for his pace, bounce, and ability to deliver in high-pressure situations.

England Squad for Second Test vs India includes Ben Stokes (captain), Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue and Chris Woakes.

England will aim to build on their momentum at Edgbaston, while India will look to bounce back in what promises to be another fiercely contested
