Bulawayo, July 8, 2025: Stand-in captain Wiaan Mulder stole the spotlight with a historic 367-run knock, while Corbin Bosch starred with the ball in the second innings, as South Africa crushed Zimbabwe by an innings and 236 runs in the second Test at Queens Sports Club on Tuesday, sealing the two-match series 2-0.

South Africa had earlier claimed a commanding 328-run victory in the first Test at the same venue.

After being forced to follow on, Zimbabwe resumed their second innings on 51/1, still trailing by 405 runs, following their first-innings collapse for 170 in response to South Africa’s imposing 626/5 declared.

Opener Takudzwanashe Kaitano, who resumed alongside Nick Welch, was dismissed in the eighth over of Day 3 by Senuran Muthusamy. He scored 40 off 76 balls, including five boundaries.

Welch, meanwhile, attempted to anchor the innings with two key stands — 39 runs with Sean Williams (11) and a 50-run partnership with skipper Craig Ervine. He top-scored for Zimbabwe with a gritty 55 off 126 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes, before also falling to Muthusamy.

His dismissal triggered a swift collapse as Zimbabwe lost their remaining five wickets for just 67 runs, ultimately folding for 220, and handing South Africa a massive innings win.

Captain Craig Ervine showed resistance with a composed 49 off 95 balls, while Tanaka Chivanga added a late flourish with 22 off 26 deliveries.

Corbin Bosch led the South African bowling attack with 4 for 38 in 19 overs, while Muthusamy claimed three wickets. Codi Yusuf took two scalps and Wiaan Mulder added one to his tally.

For his record-breaking triple century and all-round contribution, Wiaan Mulder was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series, underlining his leadership and dominance throughout the series.
