Islamabad, July 14, 2025: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to international peace, security, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
During a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Sunday night, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding support for the UN and its efforts around the world. He assured the Secretary-General of Pakistan’s full cooperation in facilitating the UN and its personnel in the effective implementation of their mandates.
As Pakistan holds the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of July, the Deputy Prime Minister briefed the Secretary-General on the Signature Events being hosted by Pakistan to promote dialogue, multilateralism, and conflict resolution. Both leaders expressed their intention to meet in New York next week during events related to Pakistan’s UNSC Presidency.
Separately, addressing the Pakistani community in Kuala Lumpur last week, Dar commented on recent regional developments, particularly in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident. He said India’s political leadership was “struggling to reconcile with the outcome” of the recent escalation, while Pakistan exercised restraint and responded through measured diplomatic and strategic means, including the closure of its airspace.
He further stated that Pakistan had countered India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty with firm resolve, and had effectively challenged India’s narrative on the global stage.
Rejecting claims of diplomatic isolation, Dar underscored that Pakistan remains an active and respected member of the international community. He emphasized Pakistan’s status as one of the countries most affected by terrorism, and highlighted its continued success in exposing misinformation, citing the example of the Pulwama incident.
Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan’s foreign policy remains grounded in constructive engagement and economic diplomacy, aimed at promoting regional stability and international cooperation.
