Multan. October 05,2024– Pakistan cricket team’s middle-order batter and Test vice-captain Saud Shakeel has dismissed rumours of any grouping within the squad, emphasizing that team morale is high and their focus is on finishing the series against England on a strong note.

Speaking at a press conference in Multan, Saud Shakeel said that England plays an aggressive style of cricket, which can lead to mistakes. “We will aim to make them commit more errors and win the series,” he stated.

Regarding the upcoming test match against England, Saud mentioned, “One day is left in the match, and I’m not yet sure if there will be grass on the pitch or not, so I can’t say much about our plans for now.”

When asked about Babar Azam’s resignation from captaincy, Saud clarified, “Babar’s decision to step down is related to white-ball cricket, while we are playing red-ball cricket, so I can’t comment on it. Resigning is a personal decision for everyone.”

On the subject of bowling, Saud noted, “Shaheen Afridi has resumed bowling, I can’t comment on his fitness, but we play according to the team’s needs. When needed, we play aggressively.”

Saud also highlighted the difference in responsibilities between the captain and vice-captain, explaining that the vice-captain doesn’t face as much pressure. “The Bangladesh series is in the past, and our focus is now on the future.”

He reiterated that England’s aggressive approach often leads to mistakes, and Pakistan will capitalize on that to win the series. “We have come close to victory in previous series, and now we must finish strong to claim the win. With the conditions in Multan and how the pitch is being prepared, reverse swing is expected.”

“We are not overly focused on England; we have to play according to our own plan and the situation. The boys are working hard, and our goal is to win the series. This is an opportunity where we need to perform well in every department,” he added.

Saud concluded by saying that the team’s morale is strong, there is no internal grouping, and everyone is focused on playing well. “I am confident that we will perform better now—it’s time to deliver.”
