Rawalpindi, July 18, 2025: In a swift and coordinated response, Pakistani security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by militants at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, capturing five suspected suicide bombers who had taken refuge in a mosque.

According to security officials, the suspects—all Afghan nationals aged between 15 and 18—were intercepted during an operation launched in response to intelligence inputs. The militants attempted to enter Pakistani territory on July 17 around 5:00 PM, moving towards Aziz Khel and Mandi Khel by 6:25 PM.

Forces quickly mobilized and surrounded the group hiding in a mosque in Baisi Khel, compelling the suspects to surrender without resistance. At least three of the detainees were found carrying Afghan identification cards. They have since been transferred to an undisclosed location for interrogation. Security operations in the area are still underway.

The attempted incursion is part of a broader pattern of cross-border threats. Officials noted that Pakistan has seen a spike in infiltration attempts in recent months, many linked to Indian-backed terrorist networks operating from Afghan soil.

In a major counter-terrorism operation from April 25 to 27, security forces killed 71 militants, while a separate operation on July 4 resulted in the deaths of 30 infiltrators. Earlier, on March 23, 16 militants were neutralized under similar circumstances.

Authorities emphasize that these attacks are part of a coordinated effort to destabilize Pakistan, allegedly orchestrated and supported by Indian intelligence agencies. However, they reiterated that Pakistan’s security apparatus remains vigilant and fully prepared to thwart any such attempts.

“We will continue to safeguard our borders and protect our people from any foreign-sponsored aggression,” said a senior security official.

The latest success underscores the readiness and capability of Pakistan’s border forces amid rising regional tensions.
