Karachi, July 20, 2025: Acclaimed Pakistani actor Faizan Khawaja has publicly addressed the persistent issues of non-payment and unprofessionalism in the country’s entertainment industry, shedding light on the struggles faced by both emerging and veteran artists.

Known for his roles in hit television dramas such as Aik Nai Cinderella, Dulhan, Jaal, Ishq Tamasha, Tu Ishq Hai, Saudai, and Qismat, Faizan is the son of veteran film and television producer Rashid Khawaja, credited with introducing several prominent names, including Sami Khan. Faizan also earned praise for his performance in the short film Twisted Sapnay alongside Zubab Rana.

Despite a successful run in television, Faizan distanced himself from the screen due to what he described as the “deeply unprofessional environment” within the entertainment and fashion industries. “It’s been five years since my last drama,” he revealed, adding, “I didn’t leave acting — I just stopped working with those who don’t pay on time.”

Speaking out in a recent video that is making rounds on social media, Faizan shared his frustrations regarding the non-payment culture in showbiz. “I say this with profound grief and deep regret — seniors like Muhammad Ahmed and Mehreen Jabbar have to beg for their own money,” he said, referring to a concern also recently highlighted by veteran actor Muhammad Ahmed.

“People are saying I exposed the showbiz industry — I didn’t. I just told the truth. And I’m not doing it for clout or followers,” Faizan clarified. “Humaira Asghar had 700,000 followers — what did they do for her?”

Recalling his own experience, Faizan said he once had to chase payments after doing a commercial, vowing never to do one again. But even when he returned to commercials following the success of his drama and film, he faced the same ordeal. “Let me clarify — no one owes me money today. This isn’t about me. It’s about all the people who aren’t being paid for their work.”

He added that his words are especially for struggling artists whose survival depends on timely payments. “The real problem is that you have to chase producers just to get the money you’ve earned. This exploitation needs to end.”

Faizan’s candid remarks have struck a chord with many in the entertainment industry and among fans. Social media users have widely appreciated his honesty and courage in speaking out about a longstanding issue. Many expressed support for his stance and shared their hope to see him return to television soon.
