Multan test: Pakistan ends first day at 328/4 against England

Multan, October 07,2024: Pakistan displayed an impressive performance on the first day of the opening Test against England, ending the day with 328 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

In the first match of the Pakistan-England Test series held in Multan, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub opened the innings, but Ayub was dismissed early, scoring just 4 runs with the team’s total at 8.

Following Ayub’s departure, Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood stabilized the innings, pushing the score forward. Shan Masood played brilliantly, smashing 2 sixes and 10 boundaries to reach his century.

Masood’s knock, his 11th Test century, included 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Abdullah Shafique also reached his century with a six, before getting dismissed for 102 runs. The partnership between Shafique and Masood added a remarkable 253 runs.

After Shafique’s dismissal, Shan Masood couldn’t stay long at the crease either, returning to the pavilion after scoring a solid 151 runs off 177 balls, which included 13 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Pakistan’s fourth wicket fell when Babar Azam was trapped LBW for 30 runs. Saud Shakeel (30) and Naseem Shah (0) remain unbeaten at the crease as Pakistan closed the day at 328/4.
