Lahore/Islamabad, August 9, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rain at a few locations across the country, while most plains are expected to remain hot and extremely humid in the coming days.

PMD Director Abdul Aziz said that Lahore will continue to experience intense heat and high humidity for the next few days, with no heavy rain expected. However, from August 13, rainfall is likely in the country’s upper regions, while Lahore may see light showers.

In eastern Punjab, the Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are expected in isolated spots. Hot and humid conditions will prevail in Islamabad and its surroundings, though light rain is possible in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sialkot, Khushab, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Narowal.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected in Swat, Dir, Buner, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mardan, Malakand, Khyber, Bajaur, Orakzai, and Kohat. Most parts of Balochistan will remain hot and humid, with light showers forecast for Karachi and coastal Sindh. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may see thunderstorms with rain at a few places.

Meanwhile, Nowshera has been facing persistent rainfall since last night, causing floods in streams and rivers that have inundated homes, shops, and even the local dispensary. Waterlogging has also been reported in the Railway Colony. The downpour has disrupted electricity supply in parts of the city, and a flood-like situation has developed in several areas due to continuous rain.

During the past 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while Islamabad, northeastern Punjab, the Pothohar region, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds.
