Bannu, September 2, 2025: Security forces foiled a major terrorist attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) line in Bannu on Tuesday, killing five militants, including a suicide bomber, during an hours-long operation.

According to police, the militants stormed the FC line, triggering an intense gunbattle that lasted several hours. The exchange of heavy gunfire and explosions spread panic in nearby residential areas, where houses sustained damage, including shattered windows and broken doors.

District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Saleem Kalachi, personally supervised the operation, supported by a heavy contingent of police and Quick Response Unit personnel. Authorities sealed off all routes leading to the FC line to ensure security and prevent civilian interference.

Security officials confirmed that the area has been cordoned off and a clearance operation is underway. “A major terrorist plot has been averted due to the timely response of our forces,” said the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, adding that search operations are continuing in Bannu.
