Islamabad, September 5, 2025: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday issued a weather advisory warning of possible urban flooding and flash floods in Sindh between September 6 and 9, as intermittent heavy rain is forecast across the province.

According to the NDMA, low-lying urban areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Thatta, Badin, and Sujawal face the risk of significant waterlogging and submersion due to continuous downpours.

The authority urged municipal administrations and civic agencies to ensure proper drainage and deploy resources in advance to minimize damage.

The advisory also flagged the danger of flash floods in hilly streams of Tharparkar, particularly in Mithi, Islamkot, Nagarparkar, Chachro, Dhali, Diplo, and Kaloi. Neighboring districts, including Umerkot, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu, Ghotki, and Kashmore, may also experience dangerous flood surges.

In line with NDMA’s directives, provincial departments, rescue services, and disaster response agencies have been placed on high alert. Emergency teams have been instructed to remain on standby for evacuation, relief, and medical support in case of flooding incidents.

Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to:

  • Remain vigilant and closely monitor official updates.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying zones.
  • Cooperate with local authorities and follow evacuation orders if issued.

The NDMA stressed that advance preparedness and precautionary measures were essential to safeguarding lives and property during the anticipated rain spell.
