Lahore, September 23, 2025: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with Test captain Shan Masood and interim red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood on Tuesday to review preparations for the upcoming two-match home Test series against South Africa.
According to the PCB, Naqvi expressed confidence in the team’s leadership and pledged his backing for the challenge ahead.
“My full support is with you for the Test series against South Africa,” the chairman told Masood and Mahmood during the meeting.
The series, scheduled from October 12 to 24, will mark the start of Pakistan’s new ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign. The first Test will be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from October 12–16, followed by the second at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20–24.
Sources indicate that Pakistan’s Test squad will likely be announced next week, with a preparatory camp expected to begin on September 30 after the conclusion of the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) red-ball camp on September 26. South Africa’s squad is set to arrive in Lahore in the first week of October.
This will be South Africa’s first Test tour of Pakistan since January 2021, when the hosts secured a 2-0 clean sweep.
Following the Tests, the two teams will also compete in three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals between October 28 and November 8.
