Addis Ababa, October 16, 2025: Ethiopia is positioning itself as a globally competitive investment destination through the advancement of its economic and trade opportunities, Minister of Transport and Logistics Alemu Sime Feyisa said on Thursday.

Speaking at the 5th Pakistan-Africa Business Development Summit and Conference, held at the Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa, the minister said the event underscores the strengthening trade and investment ties between Africa and Pakistan.

More than 110 business delegates from Pakistan, alongside companies and officials from across the African continent, are participating in the two-day summit aimed at promoting bilateral trade and investment partnerships.

Minister Alemu highlighted that Ethiopia’s ongoing macroeconomic reforms are fostering a favourable investment climate and boosting confidence among international investors.

Ambassador Dawano Kedir, Director General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and Pakistan is expanding across multiple sectors, including investment and development cooperation.

Former Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker, said the summit reflects the close and enduring friendship between the two countries and serves as a platform to promote Africa’s vast development potential. “The growing cooperation and partnership between Ethiopia and Pakistan will continue to deepen,” he added.

Leading the Pakistani delegation, Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan lauded Ethiopia’s consistent economic policy direction and its strategic position as the headquarters of the African Union. He said these factors provide a strong foundation for building collaborative policy linkages and expanding business opportunities.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Atif Sharif, also praised the country’s conducive investment environment and multifaceted development transformation, noting that they would further strengthen Pakistan’s trade and investment engagement across Africa.
