Lakki Marwat/Swat, October 16, 2025: At least 15 people were killed and eight others injured on Thursday when a truck overturned near Tunnel Number Three on the Swat Motorway, officials said.

According to Rescue 1122, the victims belonged to the same family from Gabral area of Behrain Tehsil in Swat District. The Malakand Rescue 1122 medical response team rushed to the site and launched a joint operation with Motorway Police and other rescue personnel.

The injured and the deceased were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Batkhela, where doctors confirmed 15 fatalities. Four of the critically injured were later referred to a hospital in Swat for specialised treatment.

In a separate incident, at least 11 people sustained injuries in a collision between two Hiace coaches near Gandi Parana Adda in Lakki Marwat. Rescue officials said all the injured were moved to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Sarai Naurang and the DHQ Hospital in Tajazai.

The injured were identified as Khalid Khan, Sajid Khan, Mir Sada Khan, Ayub Khan, Ashfaq, Ghafoor, Shah Dar Khan, Abdul Wadood, and Muzamil Khan.

Fatal road accidents are common on highways in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, often attributed to overspeeding and poor road safety standards. In September, at least 10 people were killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger van and a trailer on the Indus Highway in Karak district. Earlier in January, 12 people died and 13 were injured when a 22-wheeler lorry ploughed into multiple vehicles at Ambiri Kala Chowk on the same highway.
