Islamabad, October 22, 2025: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday approved the immediate transfer of bulletproof vehicles, earlier refused by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, to Balochistan to strengthen counterterrorism operations in the province.

The decision came in response to a request from Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who appealed to the federal government to allocate the vehicles to his province if KP authorities were unwilling to utilize them.

“Like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan is also affected by terrorism. If the KP government is refusing to acquire bulletproof vehicles, they should be transferred to the Balochistan government so that terrorism can be effectively countered,” Chief Minister Bugti posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Responding to the request, the interior minister confirmed the decision on his official X handle, stating, “CM Sahib, done. These bulletproof vehicles will be sent to Balochistan immediately to enhance counterterrorism efforts. Thank you for raising this.”

The development followed KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s announcement earlier this week that his government would return the bulletproof vehicles to the federal government, describing them as “substandard and outdated.”

Chairing his first cabinet meeting after assuming office, Afridi criticized the Interior Ministry for providing what he termed “an insult” to the KP Police. He also directed the restoration of security for former chief ministers to ensure their protection and dignity.

The vehicles were initially supplied by the Interior Ministry to bolster the KP Police’s operational capability amid growing security challenges in the province.
