Lahore, October 24, 2025: President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, has reaffirmed his commitment to developing tennis across the country, saying his administration is focused on “action, not words” and is delivering on all promises made to players.
In an interview with a private news channel, Aisam said that since assuming office, the PTF had undertaken concrete steps to improve tennis infrastructure and opportunities nationwide.
“We have introduced 12 new national tournaments and gradually increased the prize money,” he shared, highlighting recent progress under his leadership.
The PTF chief also underscored the historic milestone of securing an ATP Challenger Tour event for the first time in Pakistan’s history, describing it as a breakthrough comparable to hosting a major international cricket tournament.
“I had promised the return of international tennis to Pakistan. We’ve now been allotted seven ITF junior tournaments, and for the first time, we’ve secured an ATP Challenger Tour event — which is equivalent to hosting an ICC event in cricket,” Aisam said.
Aisam, who represented Pakistan on the global tennis circuit for over two decades, reiterated his belief in performance over promises.
“I’ve always believed in letting my racket do the talking. Even during my playing career, I focused on making my country proud through results, not words,” he said.
He further revealed that the federation was increasing international exposure for junior players, ensuring that opportunities were based strictly on merit and talent.
“The number of players participating abroad has increased. We’re prioritising merit — opportunities will go to those who deserve them, not just those who can afford to play overseas,” he concluded.
The developments mark a significant step forward for Pakistan tennis, which has long struggled with limited funding, infrastructure, and international visibility. Under Aisam’s leadership, the PTF appears poised to usher in a new era of competitive growth and global engagement for the sport.
