Lahore, October 24, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday appointed Test captain Shan Masood as the Consultant Director of International Cricket, a move aimed at strengthening the board’s cricket operations and coordination with international bodies.
The announcement was made by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during a dinner hosted at the Prime Minister’s House.
The appointment follows the recent advertisement for the position of Director of International Cricket Operations, which became vacant after Usman Wahla stepped down from the role. Wahla had been serving in the position since May 2023, succeeding Zakir Khan, whose contract had expired in April 2023.
According to the PCB’s job description, the director’s portfolio carries significant administrative and operational responsibilities — including planning and organizing international fixtures, finalizing MOUs for home and away tours, and managing cricket affairs for Pakistan’s national, Shaheens, U-19, U-16, and emerging teams.
The role also covers preparing for ICC meetings, developing logistical and tournament budgets, and overseeing negotiations, contracts, and itineraries for all bilateral and multi-format series under the Future Tours Programme (FTP).
Shan Masood’s appointment as Consultant Director signals the board’s intent to leverage the experience of current players in cricket administration.
Having made his international debut in 2013 against South Africa, Shan has represented Pakistan in 44 Tests, 9 ODIs, and 19 T20Is. As a captain, he has led Pakistan in 14 matches, with 4 wins and 10 losses, including a recent 1-1 Test series draw against South Africa.
