Islamabad, October 19, 2024-Consultations to build consensus on the 26th Constitutional Amendment have intensified, with Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence becoming the focal point. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), met Maulana and also held discussions with Sardar Akhtar Mengal, head of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal). Earlier, a delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had also met Maulana.

Before this, Bilawal and the PPP delegation met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the political situation. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also arrived at Maulana’s residence for further consultations.

Sources indicate that political leaders have decided to pause talks until PTI’s founder responds. A federal cabinet meeting scheduled to approve the amendments has been delayed twice, as broad consensus has not yet been reached.
