Dubai, November 4, 2025: Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been suspended for the next two One Day Internationals (ODIs) against South Africa after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup Super Four match against India on September 21, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday.

According to the ICC statement, Rauf received two demerit points and was fined 30% of his match fee for conduct that “brought the game into disrepute” during the Asia Cup final on September 28.

The governing body added that Rauf had earlier been sanctioned for the same offence in the group-stage match on September 14, when he was also fined and handed two demerit points. The accumulation of four demerit points has now triggered two suspension points, resulting in a two-match ban.

Rauf will consequently miss Pakistan’s first two ODIs against South Africa, scheduled for November 4 and 6 at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan has been issued an official warning and one demerit point for a similar breach during the same tournament.

The disciplinary action stems from an official complaint lodged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding players’ behaviour during the Super Four fixture in Dubai. Clips circulated on social media showed Farhan’s animated celebration after reaching his half-century and Rauf’s gesture toward fans while fielding, both of which drew attention from cricket followers.

Earlier in the tournament, India’s Suryakumar Yadav had also been found guilty of conduct bringing the game into disrepute and fined 30% of his match fee, along with two demerit points, during the September 14 match.

For the September 21 encounter, Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh was cleared of a charge under Article 2.6 related to “obscene or insulting gestures,” while Jasprit Bumrah accepted a separate charge under Article 2.21 during the final and received a warning with one demerit point.

The ICC confirmed that all offences and sanctions were imposed following hearings conducted by members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, in line with the organisation’s disciplinary framework.
