Islamabad, November 17,2025: Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Dan Stoenescu visited the National Library of Pakistan on Monday, where he met Director General Muhammad Ali Shahzad Muzaffar and the institution’s management team to discuss avenues for expanding cultural cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, the ambassador donated a collection of Romanian books published by the Romanian Cultural Institute Publishing House. The volumes, covering history, literature, art, and cultural heritage, aim to introduce Pakistani readers to Romania’s intellectual and cultural traditions.

Ambassador Stoenescu said the donation reflected Romania’s commitment to strengthening cultural ties with Pakistan. He also proposed the establishment of a dedicated “Romanian Shelf” at the National Library, which would offer direct access to Romanian scholarship and creative works.

The two sides further discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the National Library of Pakistan and the National Library of Romania to promote long-term institutional cooperation.

“Libraries connect people, preserve identity, and build bridges of understanding,” the ambassador said, emphasizing that enhanced collaboration in education, culture, and knowledge exchange remained a key pillar of the Romania–Pakistan partnership.

Stoenescu said he looked forward to supporting additional initiatives aimed at bringing readers, researchers, and students from both countries closer together.
