Islamabad, November 27, 2025: Pakistan is expected to embark on a three-match Test tour of Australia as part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2027–29 cycle, according to international media reports published Thursday.

Though an official announcement from either board is still pending, several reputable Australian cricket journalists have confirmed the proposed itinerary.

As per reports, the three Tests are expected to be played at iconic Australian venues:

  • 1st Test- Adelaide Oval
  • 2nd Test- Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
  • 3rd Test- Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG)

If confirmed, the series would mark another challenging red-ball assignment for Pakistan on Australian soil, where victories have historically been difficult to secure.

Australia was originally slated to tour Pakistan for a white-ball series in two phases including three T20Is from January 30 to February 5, 2026 ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and three ODI matches from March 13 to 19, 2026 as listed in the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP).

Sources indicate that the ODI series is now unlikely to take place in mid-March as originally scheduled. Discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) are ongoing to determine new dates.

The revised ODI series is now expected to be held after the conclusion of PSL Season 11, though the final schedule is yet to be confirmed.

Australia and Pakistan have played 72 Test matches against each other:

  • Australia won: 37
  • Pakistan won: 15
  • Drawn: 20

Pakistan’s most recent Test tour to Australia took place in 2024, where they were swept 3–0 — a series remembered for Shan Masood’s debut as Test captain.

While the prospect of a high-profile Test series excites fans on both sides, the cricketing world awaits formal confirmation from the ICC, PCB, and CA to finalize the schedule.
